Tropical Crop Management and Ecology

Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences

This programme is designed for BSc graduates in plant sciences, agriculture, biology, or ecology. This two-year program prepares professionals to tackle sustainability challenges in tropical and subtropical agricultural systems, focusing on agrobiodiversity, nutrition, human health, and climate change. It emphasizes agroecological production, integrating traditional methods like agroforestry with modern technologies such as plant biotechnology. The program promotes the conservation and use of indigenous and neglected plant species, enhancing the sustainability and resilience of smallholder farming systems.

Students will explore the management of plant resources in tropical agroecosystems, addressing food, nutrition, and health-related questions. They will engage in research and development activities, gaining the knowledge and skills for scientific inquiry and professional practice in tropical agriculture. The faculty offers hands-on experience through global projects, encouraging students to collaborate on their master's thesis with these initiatives or local institutions. The program concludes with a State exam and thesis defence, with graduates earning the title "Inženýr" (Ing.).
